About the Office:   EEO’s mission is to provide an informal and formal complaint processing system for individuals to address workplace disputes, a reasonable accommodation process for persons with disabilities and to ensure that the FBI’s diverse population is represented in all occupations and at all levels of the FBI.  In addition, through OEEOA’s special emphasis unit, provide cultural awareness and EEO training to all FBI personnel.

 

Responsibilities and  

Opportunity Offered:  Responsible for both oral and written responses to requests for legal advice or questions involving interpretations of legislation, case law, Federal regulations, and other legal authorities.  Conducts comprehensive and extensive legal and technical research utilizing a full range of expertise in locating and analyzing legal authorities such as Federal statutes and regulations, FBI manuals of operations and procedures, case law precedent from printed text as well as electronic databases and subject-matter specialists both inside and outside the FBI.  Reviews current and proposed Bureau policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure they are compliant and consistent with the intent of applicable laws, regulations, and legal precedents, and are administratively sound, efficient, and economical in operations.

 

Qualifications:                                    

Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. from an accredited law school; must be a member in good standing licensed to the active practice of law in any State of the United States; and possess a minimum of one year post-law school relevant experience.

 

Applicants must have superior academic credentials and exceptional writing and oral communication skills.  Experience rendering legal advice with respect to questions, regulations, practices, or other matters falling within the purview of a Federal or State Government agency is helpful. 

Preferred qualifications:   It is preferred that applicants have experience in one or more of the following practice areas:   

Civil Litigation

·        Employment Law

·        Federal Employees

 

 

 

Travel:                                                            Frequent.

 

Salary Information:                             Salary and grade level determinations are made based on the years of qualifying experience and current salary level. The salary range for this position is: GS-15  ($120,830 - $153,200).
